Chagall, a világhírű festőművész álmodta meg a szakállas hegedűs figuráját, aki egy kis falu házai fölé emelkedve muzsikálja el közössége álmait, szenvedéseit, megaláztatásait és teremt átjárást ég és föld között. A világhírű Brodway-musical nagy erővel szól a kisebbségi lét terheiről, a hagyományok erejéről, önironikus lírával fogalmazza meg az esendőségeket. Szerettetel szól az emberről, huncutul a ha én gazdag lennék állapotról, méltósággal a tejes kisemmizéséről, a hontalanságról. Ám derű, az élet végtelen szeretete árad a történetből és a slágerré vált dallamokból, melyeket a nemzetközi hírű Budapest Klezmer Band játszik élőben, a játék szerves részeseként.

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
The series launched in the 2025/26 season focuses on composers whose operas receive special attention during the season. Yet there are many singers who do not find a role in the works of these masters, but who would gladly sing from their rich vocal palettes.
While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
