A darabról ekként vall a rendező-koreográfus Egerházi Attila:
„A Hattyúk tava, sokak által ismert klasszikus balett verziójához képest másként, más megvilágításban kívántam újra fogalmazni a darabot. Az én olvasatomban Siegfried egy meghasadt tudatú fiatalember, akit gyermekkori, édesanyjával való viszonyából eredő traumái fogva tartanak.
A darab minden egyes karaktere és történése, tulajdonképpen Siegfried víziói, belső világának kivetülése. Ő maga mindvégig egy szobában ül, miközben önmaga jó és rossz énjét vetíti ki Odette és Rotbart figurájára. A táncszínházi produkció egyfajta pszicho drámának is tekinthető, ha úgy tetszik pszichoanalízis.
Mindemellett, fontos volt számomra Csajkovszkij erőteljes és briliáns zenei világát képpé formálni, a tánc nyelvén keresztül láthatóvá varázsolni a zenét.”
