Egy orosz kisvárosba, nevezetesen Kurszkba egy japán férfi érkezik. Lányokat vinne külföldre „táncolni”. A jelentkezők, meg csak jönnek, és jönnek, csitritől az öreglányig mind felsorakoznak. Mert menni akarnak. El, minél messzebbre… Az eseménynek hamar híre megy, amit a nem éppen józan életű férjek sem hagyhatnak szó nélkül.
Alecander Galin a legtöbbet játszott kortárs orosz drámaíró. Konkurz című darabja igazi világsiker, számtalan nyelvre lefordították, folyamatosan műsoron van "Kurszktól Szingapúrig." Magyarországon 2007-ben a Kaposvári Csiky Gergely Színház játszotta sikerrel Spiró György fordításában. A verseny címmel. Budapesten teátrumunk viszi először színre, Galin eredeti szövegének felhasználásával és újragondolásával.
