A Grincs magányosan éldegél barlangjában a Kobak hegyen, egyetlen társasága hűséges kutyája, Max. A barlang tele van mindenféle találmánnyal és szerkentyűvel, melyek a házigazda mindennapi kényelmét szolgálják, így a Grincs csak akkor látja szomszédait Kifalván, amikor kifogy az élelemből. Kifalva minden évben karácsonykor megzavarja hősünk magányát az évről évre egyre nagyobb, fényesebb és hangosabb ünnepléssel. Amikor a Kik bejelentik, hogy idén háromszor nagyobb lesz a karácsony, a Grincs rájön, hogy csupán egy módon biztosíthatja a csendet és a békességet: el kell lopnia a karácsonyt. Úgy dönt tehát, hogy Mikulásnak adja ki magát, sőt, terveihez csapdába ejt egy nyafka rénszarvast is, hogy legyen, aki húzza a szánját. Eközben odalent Kifalván Cindy-Lou Ki, egy kislány, akiben túlcsordul a karácsonyi vidámság, a barátaival azt tervezi, hogy csapdába ejti a karácsonyi köreit rovó Mikulást, hogy megköszönhesse neki a sok segítséget, amit túlterhelt édesanyjának nyújt. Ahogy közeledik a karácsony, félő, hogy a jószándékú terv ütközni fog a Grincs jóval ármányosabb ügyködésével...

Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
