He started his career as a wunderkind, giving his first concert at the age of five, and today most people liken Grigory Sokolov to a Tibetan monk. He himself recedes into the background, his physical presence practically dissolving in the music, the notes, perfectly formed, taking over control of the concert hall, making his recitals into celebrations of music. He is indisputably one of the greatest pianists alive today. His extensive repertoire ranges from Bach to Schönberg, and the seriousness and originality of his musical interpretation and the precision of his performance style captivate both audiences and critics wherever he plays.

Rudi van Dantzig – Toer van Schayk / Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky SWAN LAKE Classical ballet in three acts
There are evenings when our Opera House cannot perform because rehearsals are ongoing on stage until the evening. There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
Bartók Béla’s two highly influential stage works explore the dynamics of the relationship between man and woman and the deeper layers of their personalities, as presented by creators who, through a fusion of tradition and innovation, reveal the possibilities inherent in these works for 21st-century audiences.
