A zenetörténeti időutazás alkalmával a háromszáz éves történelmi dallamok egyedülálló módon mutatják be a magyar nemzet különleges zenei örökségét e két hungarikum hangszerrel: kezdve a XVII-XVIII. századi elfeledett dallamoktól egészen napjaink zenéjéig, Ott Rezső versenyművéig, aki kifejezetten az előadók számára írta alkotását. Az esten két kiemelkedő XX. századi zeneszerző is helyet kap: Weiner Leó magyar népi dallamokat feldolgozó 2. divertimentója és Dohnányi Ernő romantikus C-dúr szerenádja keretezi a műsort, amely Dmitry Sitkovetsky vonószenekari átiratában szólal meg.

Our offer

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.

Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.

Henry Purcell’s epic masterpiece, Dido and Aeneas has to do with the Trojan War. But what is even more important than the historical background of this hour-long little gem is love – as Dóra Barta, the director of the production highlights it, “Humanity has long known that if there is something you can die of, Love is certainly such a thing.
