Goethe: Stella
Goethe Stellája egy öt jelenetből álló tragédia, amit 1775-ben kezdett el írni, azonban a befejezés egészen 1805-ig váratott magára. Gleichen lovagja szolgáltatta az események alapját, kinek sírköve két nő társaságában örökíti meg a lovagot. A dráma Ferdinánd és az őt viszont szerető Cäcilie, illetve Stella bárónő belső tusáját helyezi előtérbe. Első változatában Goethe a bigámia gondolatát vetette fel a végkifejletben, ami miatt betiltották a mű bemutatását, így a végső változat ennél tragikusabb fordulatot vesz.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart / Gian Carlo Menotti BASTIEN UND BASTIENNE / THE TELEPHONE One-act operas in Hungarian, with Hungarian subtitles
As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
