Ahogy a szerző az e heti felvezető sajtótájékoztatón magyarázta, a rövid ideig (1989 – 1937) élt amerikai zeneszerző, George Gershwin és két legnagyobb szerelme, Kay Swift (komponista) és Paulette Goddard (Charlie Chaplin felesége, Gershwin számára a „végzet asszonya”) térnek vissza amolyan szellemként, dalokkal, történetekkel, teremtenek kapcsolatot a múlt és jelen között. Az egyszerre ironikus, egyszerre drámai mesében – a jazz köré, mellé „építve” – a létezés értelmét is firtatják.
Ahogy a címszereplő, Barabás Kiss Zoltán fogalmazott, az életében nagy fájdalmakkal küszködő Gershwin itt most kiteljesedik, nincsenek problémák, csak érzelmek és az őt igazán jellemző fanyar humor.”
