Ekként fogalmazta meg egy tavalyi beszélgetésben Batta András, a Zeneakadémia egykori rektora, hogy a puszta tiszteleten túl milyen megfontolás áll a Fischer Annie születésének 100. évfordulója előtt tisztelgő zeneakadémiai koncertsorozat mögött. Dohnányi Ernő és Székely Arnold egykori növendéke 1933-ban, tizenkilenc évesen robbant be a köztudatba, amikor – saját magát döbbentve meg a leginkább – megnyerte a Nemzetközi Liszt Ferenc Zongoraversenyt. Káprázatos karrier következett ez után, amelyben fontos szerepet játszottak a pályatársak, s közülük kettővel, két ifjabb zongoristával, Frankl Péterrel és Vásáry Tamással különösen szoros viszonyt ápolt. Ők ketten idézik meg Fischer Annie alakját ezen az ünnepi hangversenyen a Fischer Annie-t számos alkalommal kísérő Liszt Ferenc Kamarazenekar közreműködésével.
