Királyfink hosszú útja során csodatevők segítségével, végül célba ér. Sokáig mégsem tudja élvezni az időtlenséget, erős honvágya miatt visszatér meglátogatni apját, anyját. Ám míg ő Halhatatlanság országában néhány napot tölt el, addig a földön több ezer esztendő szalad el. Ezért szüleit sem találhatja meg, s az elárvult királyfira ekkor rátalál még az öreg Halál is. Végül a Halhatatlanság országának királynője és a Halál küzd meg egymással a királyfiért…
