ÉDENTŐL KELETRE
John Steinbeck - ÉDENTŐL KELETRE (East of Eden)
Színpadra alkalmazta: Spiró György
„A legnagyobb rémület, amely egy gyermek szívét marcangolhatja: az, hogy nem szeretik! Nincs ember a világon, aki kisebb-nagyobb mértékben ne érezte volna a visszautasítás gyötrelmét. A mellőzés haragot szül, és a harag valami bűnt a mellőzés megbosszulására, a bűn pedig bűntudattal jár, íme az emberiség története!...”

A Nobel-díjas amerikai író, John Steinbeck világhírű regénye Káin és Ábel történetének modern példázata. Magyarországon azonban inkább Elia Kazan 1955-ben készült Oscar-, Golden Globe és Cannes-i nagydíjjal jutalmazott filmje népszerű, melynek főszerepét a fiatalon elhunyt mozilegenda, James Dean alakította.
Spiró György, a kortárs magyar irodalom egyik legizgalmasabb alakja készített a regényből színpadi változatot az Új Színház társulata számára.

Our offer
A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
