Imre Dózsa is the doyen and a living legend of classical Hungarian ballet. After decades as an active dancer, he worked as ballet director for the Opera in 1983 and 1984, prior to which he led the transitioning State Ballet Institute and the Hungarian Dance College for 12 years. He was an excellent danseur noble who, in addition to the main roles of classical and romantic ballet works, also played his roles with similar excelling quality in modern creations as well. He returned to the Opera in the 2011/2012 season and has since been the Hungarian National Ballet’s instructor and ballet master. The Hungarian State Opera and the Hungarian Dance Academy are holding a gala night in honour of Imre Dózsa.

Our offer

Set in the Roman Empire around 74 BC, Spartacus was László Seregi's first true full-length ballet, which at one stroke became a milestone in Hungarian dance life. Since 1968, one generation after another has enjoyed the historically themed choreography, which treats the story of the ancient slave revolt in such a way that its true message is not the rebellion itself, but rather human emotions and choices under pressure.
