Sokak szerint Brahms főműve, és biztosan az életmű leghosszabb darabja a Német requiem. Hiszen szemben a zenetörténet számos más gyászzenéjével, ez a mű nem a gyászmise bevett latin szövegét használja, hanem különféle bibliai részleteket, mégpedig Luther német fordításában.

Brahms nem liturgikus céllal írta a darabot, számára nem a keresztény tartalom, hanem a halálhoz fűződő emberi viszony volt a legfontosabb. A rendkívüli mesterségbeli munkáról tanúskodó kompozíció – tele tudós fúgákkal, különleges harmóniai és formai megoldásokkal –, a zenei múlttal intenzív párbeszédet folytató brahmsi romantika egyik legfelemelőbb példája (a Brahms zenéjét utáló George Bernard Shaw azt mondta róla, hogy „egy elsőrangú temetkezési vállalkozó műve”), amely ezúttal a bolgár születésű, Ausztriában élő Dian Tchobanov vezényletével fog megszólalni, válogatott szólisták és két kitűnő hazai kórus, valamint a Budafoki Dohnányi Zenekar előadásában.

There are evenings when our Opera House cannot perform because rehearsals are ongoing on stage until the evening. There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
