Divertimento - udvari zene
A XIX. század első harmadáig a szórakoztató zene ugyanazon mesterek tollából született, akik adott esetben szakrális műveket, operákat, szimfóniákat, concertókat írtak. Különösen jellemző ez Mozartra, akinek divertimentói (a szó maga is szórakozást, szórakoztatást jelent), szerenádjai valóban családi vagy udvari ünnepségek szórakoztató zenéi, adott esetben tánczenéi voltak, ezekből két darabot is hallhatunk ezen az estén.

A szintén Divertimento címmel illetett – 1939-ben, a második világháború kitörését közvetlen megelőző napokban írt – Bartók műben már tetten érhető a drámaiság, egy félelmes előérzet hangjai. Mégis a bartóki életmű egyedülállóan szórakoztató, lendületes műve született meg. A mű befejezése nem is felhőtlenül optimista, de máig tartó üzenete van: bármi is történjék, életünk nem lehet teljes öröm és szórakozás nélkül.
