Ha karácsony és zene, akkor Diótörő! A szeretetünnepéhez hangulatos története révén ezer szállal kötődő utolsó Csajkovszkij-balett librettója a német romantika nagy írója, E.T. A. Hoffmann A diótörőés az egérkirály című meséje alapján készült, koreográfiáját a nagyszerű francia balettmester, Marius Petipa készítette. Azősbemutatóra 1892. december 18-án került sor a szentpétervári Mariinszkij Színházban– a darab azóta is egyike a zeneszerző legtöbbet játszott alkotásainak, a balettszínpadon éppen úgy, mint a koncertpódiumon. A 17:18-as bérlet második koncertjén e remekművel találkozhat a közönség, a Győri Filharmonikus Zenekart a győri illetőségű fiatal karmester, BarossÁdám vezényli, az est házigazdája dr. Szabó Balázs zenetörténész lesz.

Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
