A több éve nyugodt házasságban élő Philipnek teljesen felbolydul az élete, mikor egy szerető által írt levelet talál a nappalijában, feltételezhetően a feleségének címezve. Gyanakvásait tovább növeli, hogy legjobb barátja Alistair, az élvezetek hajszolásának mestere, aki végül még jobban kibillenti főhősünket a megszokott kerékvágásból, ugyanis egyenesen kémkedésre sarkallja Philipet a felesége után. A probléma csak ott kezdődik, hogy Philip a karrierje legnagyobb lehetősége előtt áll, s egyetlen feladata pedig az lenne, hogy egy kiegyensúlyozott, erkölcsileg sebezhetetlen, megbízható férj képében mutatkozzon befektetője előtt, ami nem tűnik egyszerű küldetésnek, tekintve hogy többen is csak pajzánkodásra használnák az ő nemrégiben felújított lakását.

Bartók Béla’s two highly influential stage works explore the dynamics of the relationship between man and woman and the deeper layers of their personalities, as presented by creators who, through a fusion of tradition and innovation, reveal the possibilities inherent in these works for 21st-century audiences.
