1964-ben, az érettségi után került az Illés zenekarba, ahol Szörényi Leventével megírták azokat a dalokat, melyek megjelenését tekintik origónak a magyar rock történetében. Az Illés zenekar repertoárjának kialakításával a szövegíró és gyakran dalszerző Bródy János beírta magát a Magyar Kultúra Aranykönyvébe. Neki köszönhetően jöttek létre a későbbiekben olyan jelentős sikereket hozó első színpadi művek is, mint a Kőműves Kelemen és a még mindig aranykorát élő István, a király rockopera. A legutóbbi, „Az Illés szekerén” című albuma dupla platina példányszámot ért el és elnyerve a szakma és közönség elismerését is, az Év Lemeze Fonogram díjban részesült. A nagy sikerre való tekintettel megjelent a Ráadás, Bródy János legújabb stúdiófelvételeinek albuma, melyen néhány régebbi dal újraértelmezése mellett vadonatúj szerzemények is szerepelnek majd.

The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
