Jean-Efflam Bavouzet, one of today’s most important and most sought-after French pianists, has close-knit and productive affiliations with Hungarian musical life. He first played with Liszt and Kossuth Prize laureate Kristóf Baráti first in 2015, and the experience seems to have been very inspirational: now they take to the stage together again at the CAFe Budapest festival, with modern Hungarian music as their common denominator.
The French pianist, a personal discovery of Georg Solti and the award winner of several major international competitions, completed an American tour last year, and appeared in concert with the symphonic orchestras of Hong Kong, Sydney, São Paulo and Luxemburg, as well as with the French National Orchestra and the BBC Philharmonic. He gave solo recitals in the Louvre, Paris, and the Wigmore Hall, London. He maintains a vast repertoire, and is considered one of today’s most important interpreters of Ravel and Debussy.
