Bach 3. brandenburgi versenyében ugyan csak vonósok szerepelnek, de nem a megszokott négy- vagy ötszólamú felosztásban: a hegedűk, brácsák és csellók hármas csoportokba rendezve konfrontálódnak egymással, versengésüket egy nagybőgőből és csembalóból álló continuoszekció kíséri. Mozart utolsó hegedűversenyét – amely ma a legtöbb zenekari próbajátékon kötelező mű – mindössze 19 évesen írta. Utolsó tételének egyik epizódja Mozart jellegzetes „törökös” zenéinek egyike, a Szöktetés a szerájból török muzsikájának előképe. Suk mestere, Dvořák úgy találta, hogy 18 éves növendéke túlontúl búskomor zenékkel jelentkezik, ezért egy derűs mű komponálására ösztönözte. Az így született szerenád nem csak Suk legtöbbet játszott darabja, hanem a vonószenekari repertoár egyik jelentős műve is.

Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
Set in the Roman Empire around 74 BC, Spartacus was László Seregi's first true full-length ballet, which at one stroke became a milestone in Hungarian dance life. Since 1968, one generation after another has enjoyed the historically themed choreography, which treats the story of the ancient slave revolt in such a way that its true message is not the rebellion itself, but rather human emotions and choices under pressure.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
