Székely Csaba Bányavidék-trilógiájának középső darabja sötét színekkel festett, reménytelen világot ábrázoló tablót kínál. A hatalomért folytatott harcban semmiféle eszköztől vissza nem riadó, de a közös ellenség okán mégiscsak szövetséget kötő Ince, polgármester és Izsák, a hungarista szomszéd, a kisebbségi társadalom két szélsőséges alternatíváját mutatja: az önfeladást és a radikalizálódást. A szereplők élete rémálomszerű lét, melyben eldönthetetlen, mi okozza a nagyobb kínt, amikor alkoholban pácolva fetreng az, aki nem bírja elviselni a valóságot, vagy amikor valami félreértés folytán kijózanodva csodálkozik rá arra, amiből már semmit sem ért.
