The Kossuth Prize-winning pianist János Balázs was 13 when he was accepted to the Liszt Academy of Music's Special School for Exceptional Young Talents in 2002. By the time he finished at the university, he had racked up victories at six international piano competitions.

MVM Concerts - The Piano
In recent years, he has performed in such prestigious concert halls as Vienna's Konzerthaus, London's Barbican Centre, Amsterdam's Concertgebouw, the Cité de la Musique in Paris, Birmingham's Town Hall & Symphony Hall, the Megaron in Athens, the Cologne Philharmonie, the Palau de la Música Catalana, the Stockholm Konserthuset, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Philharmonie Luxembourg and the Bozar in Brussels, as well as giving several concerts at home in the grand hall of the Liszt Academy and the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall at Müpa Budapest. He has also appeared as a special guest in well-known concert halls in North America and the Far East. He is a teacher at the Snétberger Centre and the Liszt Academy. The work of the Gramaphone Award-winning musician has also been recognised by the state of Poland. His free educational concerts for children have already been attended by more than 10,000 people, and he has performed special piano recitals in front of the Basilica on several occasions since 2016, proof positive that classical music has the power to leave a lasting impression on thousands of people at once. In order to nurture the intellectual and spiritual legacy of his role model, he founded the György Cziffra Festival in 2016 and serves as its artistic director. His performance style reflects a unique musical vision. He received a Prima Award in December 2016 and his work was rewarded with the Hungarian Academy of Arts Award for music. In 2019, he accepted the Kossuth Prize and the Steinway Artist international award in Hamburg.
