A mese egy szorgalmas asszonyról és lusta férjéről szól. A lusta férjet semmi más nem érdekli csak az örökös játék és tréfálkozás. Ezért az asszony, hogy férjét rávegye egy kis munkára, közös játékba, tréfálkozásba hívja. Kis idő múlva a történetekhez előkerülnek a bábok is. A bábelőadásban megelevenedik a leleményes kakaska kalandja, kecskemama és a farkas története és az oktondi majom és a bölcs békák meséje. A vidám történetet hangulatos zene kíséri.
