Él Józsefvárosban egy tizenkilenc éves, szegény cselédlány. Nem titkolja: szerelmes. Szerelmes egy édes, drága, mérges emberbe. Hogy miért? Ki tudja? Ilyen a szerelem, nem?
Azonban az élet nem egy tündérmese, még Molnár Ferencnél sem, nem lehet mindenkiből egykönnyen Hamupipőke. Az édes-mérges asztalost már más is kiszemelte magának: a panzió vezetője, Adél. Igaz, a panziósnő a nála jóval fiatalabb Császár Pállal sem közömbös. Mi lesz ebből…?
