Az ötödik pecsét
Egy kocsmában minden este összejön Gyurica, az órás, Király, a könyvügynök, Kovács, az asztalos és Béla, a kocsmáros. Beszélgetnek, filozofálgatnak, iszogatnak. Egyszer csatlakozik hozzájuk egy fényképész, Keszei Károly, aki felveti a kérdést, kinek a sorsát választanák, a környezetét sanyargató fejedelemét, vagy a meggyötört rabszolgáét. A fényképész az egyetlen, aki a rabszolgát választja. Feljelentik a társaságot, másnap este megjelennek a nyilasok, elviszik valamennyiüket. Dönteniük kell: aki pofon vág egy agyonkínzott, krisztusi pózba függesztett embert, az megszabadul , aki nem, azt kivégzik. Egyedül az órás teszi meg a szörnyű mozdulatot, hiszen neki életben kell maradnia, különben a lakásán bújtatott zsidó gyerekek a segítsége nélkül elpusztulnak.
