Plantagenet Henrik, a nagy angol király hatalmas birodalmat épített, melyhez elfoglalta Franciaország nagy részét is. Karácsonyra összehívja családját, hogy rendelkezzen az ország jövőjéről. Összecsapásaik, a hatalomért folytatott harcuk, egymást kijátszására tett folyamatos kísérleteik vérre menően szellemes helyzeteket teremtenek, melyek egytől egyig a képzelet művei. A szerző szavaival: "Sokat olvastam ezekről az emberekről, alaposan tanulmányoztam az életüket, és elképzeltem, mit érezhettek, gondolhattak, mondhattak, mit akarhattak az élettől. De hogy valójában kik voltak, azt sohasem fogjuk megtudni." A darab nagy sikereket arat világszerte a színpadokon, kitűnő filmváltozatában pedig Peter O'Toole és Katharine Hepburn játszotta a főszerepeket.

Our offer
For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
