2006. októberében egy tiszavasvári tanár Olaszliszkán autójával elsodort egy roma kislányt, akinek semmi baja nem esett, de a feldühödött rokonság a tanárt – két lánya szeme láttára – agyonverte.

A tanár meglincselésének története mellett egy másik szál is megjelenik a darabban: az Idegen története, aki az olaszliszkai zsidó temetőbe menne emlékezni, az ősei nyomait keresi az emlékezetét módszeresen felszámoló faluban.
„A hírek világa a felejtésre épít, hogy mindig jön egy újabb eset, amellyel egy-két este erejéig borzolják a kedélyeket. A folyamat lényege, hogy az előzőt a következővel kitöröljék. Hogy ne legyen a közösségeknek emlékezete. Mert az emlékezet erőt és tartást ad, és tanulsággal szolgál, vagyis morális jelentéssel. Emlékezni munka. Sokszor kellemetlen, de muszáj” - nyilatkozta Borbély Szilárd a darabról.

There are evenings when our Opera House cannot perform because rehearsals are ongoing on stage until the evening. There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
A Streetcar Named Desire is Marianna Venekei's first full-length choreography. The project, lovingly nurtured for many years, is a collaboration between her and composer-saxophonist László Dés.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French, Greece and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
