Sarah Bernhardt igazi szent szörnyeteg volt. Zseniális színésznő, a lapok számára mindig pletykákkal szolgáló híresség, szenvedélyesen gátlástalan életimádó. Eljátszott minden korabeli nagy főszerepet, turnéival beutazta a világot, többször járt Budapesten is. Halálos ellensége volt Bernard Shaw, jó barátja Oscar Wilde, plakátjait maga Alphonse Mucha tervezte. A legendák szerint legbensőségesebb viszonyát házi tigrisével ápolta, koporsóban aludt, szerelmi étvágya pedig minden képzeletet felülmúlt.
A közönség rajongott érte, de a kritikusok utálták.
Élete vége felé titkára, a hűséges Pitou tollába diktálja eseményekben gazdag életének történetét, s pillanatokon belül vérre menő szerepjáték kezdődik, sziporkázóan humoros, máskor szívszorító jelenetekkel.

Set to a libretto by Barnabás Szöllősi that is based on Andor Szilágyi's fable for the theatre and written at the OPERA's request in the 2014/15 season, Erkel Prize-winning composer Zsófia Tallér's masterful, expressive and entertaining music makes this Hungarian fairy tale opera an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike, and, we hope, a possible future classic.
