Since the spread of historically informed performance and replica instruments, it is not the opera orchestras that are considered to play the most adequate 18th and early 19th century music. But who could fill a large space more flexibly and with more body to the sound than the OPERA Orchestra, able to restrain the power of their Romantic instruments as necessary? We do not play early music solely for its overflowing richness, but we also learn from it and create numerous opera projects based on it. Now the Festival of Myths will provide a new opportunity to discover what a modern instrumental ensemble can add to the music of old ages written on mythological topics.

Our offer

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart Così fan tutte
