Idén a társaság új taggal gyarapodott. A tábornokné mostohafia megnősült, és Szofja megjelenése úgy hat a kis közösség lelki életére, mint kavics a tó tükrére. Senki nem sejti, hogy ő és Platonov valaha ismerték egymást. Egyetlen éjszaka elég: minden régi és új szerelem izzik, minden szemérem lehull.
