The Grecsó Brothers and the Dancers of Willany Leó
A Message from Our Father

The Grecsó brothers have been telling stories together on stage for more than a decade, bringing the past and their shared stories to life through the languages of literature, music, and dance. Their collaboration is based on the idea that literature can inspire jazz and contemporary dance.
Their joint work has taken many forms over the years, but this latest performance may be their most complete yet. The selected texts by Krisztián Grecsó once again come as a surprise to those present on stage, but this time they are interpreted by the artists of the Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theatre: six dancers and two musicians responding in the moment. The company, founded and led by Zoltán Grecsó for the past sixteen years, supports collaboration among contemporary dance artists, exploring the possibilities of free improvisational dance and promoting the “instant” potential of self-expression.
The task is especially fitting: Krisztián Grecsó’s latest novel, A Message from Our Father, is his most personal book to date, and the artists of the company now breathe new life into it on stage.

Grecsó Brothers: writer Krisztián Grecsó and dancer/choreographer Zoltán Grecsó
Music: Lili Virág Szesztay and Luca Kézdy
Featuring artists of the Willany Leó Improvisational Dance Theatre: Vera Bundschuh,
András Engelmann, Patrik Keresztes, Zsófia Temesvári, Máté Váth
Lighting: Máté Vajda

Our offer

For the 14th time, the performance of the famous Symphony No. 9 will dominate the OPERA’s New Year celebrations. In 2027, the programme will be completed by two further classical works: Beethoven’s overture, also enhanced by Mahler, and a cello concerto by Haydn, the latter of course featuring an OPERA soloist.

Georges Bizet CARMEN Opera in four acts, in French, with Hungarian, English, and French subtitles

This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
