During her illustrious career spanning almost three decades, Anna Netrebko has become indisputably a prominent performer of the first decades of the 21st century. Her rich repertoire includes almost all the iconic female characters of opera literature, whom she portrays with great success on all major opera stages around the world. Although she has worked with OPERA on numerous occasions, she will now take the stage of the Ybl Palace on Andrássy Avenue for the first time, where she will perform a romantic evening of songs and arias with pianist Pavel Nebolsin, and the participation of mezzo-soprano Elena Maximova and violinist Kurt Mitterfellner.

Our offer
What happens when the worst traits of a power-hungry prince incapable of resisting earthly pleasures, a morally corrupt, vengeful, manipulative woman, and a desire-driven but highly impressionable teenage girl all erupt at the same time upon the appearance of a holy man?
The tale of Leander the goblin and Princess Linseed, brimming with magic and a seemingly unbreakable curse, not to mention a wealth of twists and turns, is a genuinely good yarn. Set to a libretto by Barnabás Szöllősi that is based on Andor Szilágyi's fable for the theatre and written at the OPERA's request in the 2014/15 season, Erkel Prize-winning composer Zsófia Tallér's masterful, expressive and entertaining music makes this Hungarian fairy tale opera an enjoyable experience for children and adults alike, and, we hope, a possible future classic.
There are evenings when our Opera House cannot perform because rehearsals are ongoing on stage until the evening. There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
