C-dúr, c-moll. Három bé, nyolc év és egy teljes világ választja el egymástól ezt a két művet, amelyekkel útjára indítjuk új, beszélgetős Beethoven-sorozatunkat. Szinte hihetetlen, honnan hová jutott el a „Sors” szimfónia a bemutató idején már erősen nagyothalló szerzője. Egyetlen, nem is túl hosszú életút elég volt számára, hogy olyan széles alapokat vessen az eljövendő romantikának, amit sokszor csak a modernség tudott teljesen felhasználni vakmerő felhőkarcolói tervezésekor. A két szimfónia kontrasztja jól megmutatja, mekkora hatása volt egy szabályok és hagyományok uralta világban az egyéniség forradalmának, amely forradalom első és legfontosabb hőse idén lenne 250 éves.
