Alessandro Scarlatti (Domenico Scarlatti édesapja) olasz barokk zeneszerző, 1660-tól 1725-ig élt. Elsősorban a vokális zene területén alkotott maradandót: közel 40 oratórium, 115 opera (ebből 36 maradt fenn teljes terjedelemben) és 700 kantáta mellett számos egyházzenei mű szerzője.
