"Gyors egymásutánban elhagytak barátaim. Előbb Orbán Ottó, majd Lázár Ervin. Tőle még halála előtti este el tudtam búcsúzni. Mi hárman egyidősek voltunk. Ők ketten - tőlem függetlenül - szerették és nagyon becsülték egymást. Mindkettejüktől én vettem búcsút egy-egy általuk írott remekművel. 70 múltam és eljutottam az összegzésig, amit Lázár Ervin, Orbán Ottó, Karinthy Frigyes és Zelk Zoltán műveiből állítottam össze."
