"Jászuk azt, hogy erdő vagyunk,
Zöld levélből van a hajunk,
Testből testbe száll a lélek,
Ami holt volt, vígan éled."
Gomba, virág, lepke, béka lesz a játszótársakból, a tárgyak életre kelnek... A festő viharos szelet fúj, s a szél letőri Ágacskát a fáról... Kacsák totyognak be hápogva, Pösze egér fúj harcias indulót, mindnyájan futnak, lebegnek, elbolondoznak Ágacskával, aki nagyon nagyon szeretné tudni, hogy voltaképpen ki is ő. Nem virág, nem gomba, nem lepke, nem ember és nem is kacsa, hanem kicsoda? Ágacska nem nyughatik, egyre csak vádorol, egészen addig, míg, meg nem tudja, kicsoda is ő. Végül Gabó-manó árulja el neki, hol a helye a világban, és mondja, hogy "Együtt hisszük és együtt álmodjuk az életet! Légy az, ami vagy; Ágacska, mert az öreg platánfa csak akkor él tovább, ha te visszatérsz. Hív téged, vár téged." És Ágacska visszamegy az erdőbe...

While the Fountain of Tears bubbles before him, Giray, khan of the Tatars, is lost in brooding. Just as the flow from the marble fount cannot be exhausted, his own sorrow will never diminish, either. The story of the Fountain of Bakhchisarai is set in motion by a romance recounting the reason for the khan's gloom.
This ballet's plot is inspired by The Corsair, a famous verse written in 1814 by Lord Byron, who towered over an entire generation of English Romantic poets.
