Az első félidőben Beethoven formabontó szerkezeti megoldásokkal élő, mély gondolatokban és érzelmekben gazdag G-dúr zongoraversenye, a klasszikus irodalom egyik legnagyobb léptékű versenyműve csendül fel – érdekesség, hogy ez az utolsó zongoraverseny, amelyet 1807-ben a mester még maga mutatott be a bécsi közönségnek. A rendkívül igényes magánszólamot ezúttal a magyar zongoraiskola nemzetközi hírű képviselője, Fejérvári Zoltán játssza. A hangverseny második felében a zenekari repertoár egyik méltán legnépszerűbb alkotása, Mahler a szimfóniák nagy vonulatát megnyitó, ismert dalaival szoros kapcsolatot ápoló, ragyogó 1. szimfóniája hangzik el, amelynek 1889-es ősbemutatójára a budapesti Vigadóban került sor, az ekkoriban az Operaházban működő zeneszerző vezényletével. A győri előadás dirigense a Filharmonikusok vezető karmestere, Rajna Martin lesz.
