A fiatal Bassanio egy nagyobb összeget kér kölcsön legjobb barátjától, Antoniótól, hogy Belmontba hajózhasson, és megkérhesse a szép és gazdag Portia kezét. Antonio azonban nem tud segíteni barátján, ezért üzletet kötnek Shylockkal, a zsidó uzsorással. Neki egy feltétele van csak: ha Antonio nem tudja időben törleszteni a kölcsönt, akkor kivághat egy font húst a kalmár testéből.
A Pesti Színház előadásával új darabbal bővül a Vígszínház népszerű Shakespeare-sorozata. A Velencei kalmár előadást – ahogy az utóbbi évek klasszikus bemutatóit, új fordításban játsszuk, amit a kiváló költő és műfordító Nádasdy Ádám készít el.

A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. Bartók Béla’s two highly influential stage works explore the dynamics of the relationship between man and woman and the deeper layers of their personalities, as presented by creators who, through a fusion of tradition and innovation, reveal the possibilities inherent in these works for 21st-century audiences.
There are evenings when our Opera House cannot perform because rehearsals are ongoing on stage until the evening. There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
