A székelylegény házasodna, de nincsen hozzá pénze. Elszegődik hát az ördöghöz szolgálatba. Sok-sok furfang segítségével le is telik a szolgálat, és a szerelmesek egymáséi lehetnek. Végül még a leány anyja is táncot jár a lakodalomban.
Mindezt számos népdal kíséretében izgulhatják végig a nézők.
