Élt egyszer, valamikor erősen rég egy székely menyecske. De az a világon mindent a visszájára cselekedett. Makacs dacosságával még az ördögnek is igen meggyűlt a baja. S tán még ma sem szabadult volna az asszonynép fogságából, ha meg nem menti egy huszár. A mese fonalát ördög-szállta királykisasszonyok, ördögtől kapott ördögűző képesség, igaz mátkaság, lakodalom s haj, még mik nem ékesítik! S hogy miként kacsint vissza a történetbe vad menyecskénk, azt megláthassák, csak kerekítsék szemüket, s élesítsék pupillanyílásukat!
