Ezért suttogva kértem anyámat, hogy most lesz szíves csak engem szeretni, lesz szíves csak rám figyelni, és lesz szíves csak nekem mondani egy mesét, olyat, amiből megtudhatom a tündérnevemet, és hogy miben lehetnék a testvéreim között a legügyesebb. Mert a bánatom már akkora, hogy ilyen kicsi létemre, nem is tudom, hogyan fér belém…” Tündéranyám ekkor azt mondta nekem: „Olyan mesét mondok neked, ami a kimondott szavak által a Fekete-tenger hetvenhetedik szigetének a legsötétebb csücskébe vezet.”
