Boldogságkeresés zuhanás közben. Gogol "A revizor" című műve nem pusztán a korrupció és a hatalom sötét, elrajzolt oldalát mutatja be. Egy kisváros politikusai megérzik a bukás fenyegető közelségét, és groteszk humorral ábrázolt haláltánc veszi kezdetét. A végítéletet váró városvezetés szélsőségeiben azonban mégis felcsillan az azonosíthatóan mai ember önfelmentéseinek pszichológiai rajza. Hlesztakov, egy sodródó-kallódó utazó csupán megbecsültségre vágyik, ám ebben a látszatvilágban hamar rájön, hogy az áhított tisztelet milyen könnyedén válhat a visszaélések szülőatyjává. Gogol ferde tükröt tart nekünk. Aztán ez a tükörkép ránkvigyorog. Majd megszólal.

Our offer
As it is a latent Kodály season, it seems only fitting that the concert at the OPERA honouring the events of 1956 should feature works by the composer. In that same year, the short-lived Revolutionary Council of Hungarian Intellectuals elected him as its president. Throughout his entire oeuvre, Kodály consistently reinforced Hungarian national identity. The programme gains both colour and a ceremonial character from the hymn-like and dance-infused compositions of his middle and later years.
