A kismadár nagyon egyedül érzi magát, ezért a kóróval szeretne összebarátkozni. A büszke kényes kóró azonban nem áll vele szóba. A kecskét, a farkast, a falut, a tüzet, vizet, a bikát, a bunkót, a férgecskét hiába hívja segítségül, nem hallják meg a kismadár egyszerű kérését. Végül a kiskakasnak éppen arra van szüksége, amit a kismadár felajánl neki. Így dominószerűen visszapörög a mese addig, amíg a kóróhoz érünk, aki végül együtt énekel a kismadárral és közben ringatja.
