MINI MATINÉE
The Mouse with a Mouth
a Mesebolt Puppet Theatre production

In Ervin Lázár's magical and witty tale, the mouse simply sits and narrates his story, as all the residents of the forest listen to the great teller of tall tales with open mouths. But what is the difference between lies and dreaming? What can be done if someone is a firm believer in the power of storytelling? One of the secrets of this highly successful, two-person performance from the Mesebolt Puppet Theatre from Szombathely - one of Hungary's most significant puppet theatre workshops - is the playful and humorous presentation of the animal roles. Though, in addition to plenty of happy moments, there are also some lessons to be learnt under the direction of András Veres, as it is with his squeaks the the mouse pulls his many friends out of trouble.

Our offer

Giacomo Puccini MADAMA BUTTERFLY Opera in three acts, in Italian with Hungarian, English, and Italian subtitles

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.

Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
