A hattyú mesterkomédia: bravúros humorú, szellemesen éleslátó, pestiesen gúnyos. Egy trónfosztott dinasztia feje, Beatrix, tûzön-vízen keresztül próbálja visszajuttatni családját a hatalomba. Ehhez egyetlen eszköz van a kezében: féltve õrzött lánya, Alexandra. Õt kell hozzáadni Albert herceghez, a Monarchia trónörököséhez. Albert azonban nem érdeklõdik, és Beatrix okos asszonyként pontosan tudja: a férfi figyelmét egy nõre igazán csak egy másik férfi figyelme tudja felhívni.
Egy uralkodó sohasem mondhat le. Trónjától megfosztani lehet, uralkodói jogait megvonni tõle lehet. Ez rendben van. Mert ez merõ erõszak. De ez nem kötelezi arra, hogy elismerje: elvesztette uralkodói jogait. Engedhet az erõszaknak, attól függõen, milyen idõben és milyen körülmények közé kerül, de lemondani soha, soha, soha! És ha mindannyiunknak pusztulnia kell is, akad még Habsburg elegendõ. (Bourbon-Pármai Zita, az utolsó magyar királyné)
