A cirkuszhercegnő színhelye a szentpétervári nagycirkusz. Fedja, a cári Oroszország tisztje, nagybátyjának menyasszonyába, Fedorába szerelmes. Fedja, a nagyszerű lovas, „Mister X” néven a pétervári cirkusz nagy szenzációja lesz, látványos produkcióját mindig fekete álarcban mutatja be.
