A nyúltestvérek közül Kurtafarkú egy érzékeny, félénk kis nyuszi, nem olyan talpraesett, mint Nyúlanyó másik fia, Tappancs. A történet mégis úgy alakul, hogy Tappancs kerül bajba és senki más nem segíthet rajta, csak a gyámoltalan Kurtafarkú. A mi kis nyulacskánk elindul kalandos útjára, hogy egy újonnan szerzett jóbarát és a gyerekek segítségével kiszabadítsák a róka karmai közé került Tappancsot, s közben a félénk kis nyusziból igazi bátor nyulacska lesz.
