A kortárs drámaírás kiemelkedő személyisége a horvát nemzetiségű Miro Gavran. Az 1986-ban született "Az istenek éjszakája" című drámájának témája a politikusok és művészek konfliktusa.

A darab három szereplője: XIV. Lajos francia király, a király udvari bolondja és Moliére, akik - immár sokadszorra - leisszák magukat és visszaemlékeznek a régi szép időkre. A jókedvű és duhaj hangulatban a "beszélgetés" közepette a király felfedi barátai, "ivócimborái" előtt, hogy megtudta: ők ketten bohózatot játszanak el, melyet Moliére írt a királyi udvar egyes tagjainak mulattatására, s ebben kigúnyolják őt. Ezután arra kényszeríti "barátait", hogy játsszák el neki is előtte titokban tartott darabot. Ez az úgynevezett újtörténelmi dráma tele van váratlan fordulatokkal, mely a "szeretetről", a "barátságról", és a kormányzás kegyetlenségéről szól.
Az előadás felolvasószínházi formában lesz látható a Zenthe Ferenc Színház kamaratermében.

There are audience members who can only afford to hear their favourite pieces with a discount. And there are works that, although very popular, cannot be staged every season due to the congestion of productions.
A 60-minute tour starts every day at 13:30, 15:00 and 16:30 in English. To request a tour in other languages (Italian, Spanish, German, French and Hungarian), please get in touch with the OperaTour team. Please note that the auditorium is closed for visits during rehearsals. Guided tours are not available during performances. For selected tour times, tickets are also available with the PreOpera Menu package. In addition to the guided tour of the Opera House, this option includes a themed set menu of your choice at OperaBistro, which can be enjoyed either before or after the tour.
