Csiky Gergely 1884-es színdarabja vérbeli komédia, melynek aktualitását erősíti a Mohácsi testvérek által átdolgozott szövegkönyv, amelyet most egy fiatal csapat, Horváth János Antal rendező és Rainer-Micsinyei Nóra dramaturg dolgozza tovább a tarjáni társulattal.

Solmaynál sincs ez másképp, hiába próbál lavírozni az egyre halmozódó számlák és felesége, Szidónia végtelen költekezési kedve között.
A lányokat férjhez kell adni, a fiúkat ki kell segíteni, ékszerek sem lesznek maguktól, estélyek nélkül pedig nem élet az élet. Csak éppen pénz, az már nincs rá.
A családfő által felépített kártyavár összedőlni látszik, a hazugságok lelepleződnek, mikor Solmay végre kezébe veszi az irányítást és rendet teremt. Vagy legalábbis, megpróbál.
