A Ludas Matyi Fazekas Mihály verses elbeszélő költeménye, amely először 1815-ben jelent meg. A jobbágyok és a földesurak közötti társadalmi igazságtalanságot mutatja be humoros, népmesei keretek között. A mű népmesei eredetű történetet dolgoz fel, amelyben a főhős, Matyi, háromszor veri vissza Döbrögi uraság igazságtalan bántalmazását.

A century ago, the world first encountered this remarkable opus, a work that soon became one of the cornerstones of twentieth-century musical innovation. Premiered in 1926, the singspiel is a milestone in Hungarian music history: its composer, Zoltán Kodály, fulfilled his aspiration to elevate Hungarian folk song of ancient origin to the same status as classical music, by virtue of its equivalent values, placing it on the stage of the nation’s Opera House.
Two giants of Baroque music meet during the Advent season in a performance by the OPERA Orchestra and Chorus. Bach’s well-known Magnificat is performed in its original version, in E-flat major, supplemented with movements specifically tailored to the festive season by the composer himself.
