A színhely egy San- Francisco-i lakás, melynek két fiatalember lakója több - kevesebb sikerrel küzd egzisztenciális gondjaival. Egy napon a két kritikus szellemű ifjú szomszédjába költözik egy konzervatív gondolkodású hölgy, aki egy pillanat alatt felborítja a fiúk addigi, békésnek nevezhető életét.
